California: Carlsbad

During our travels through the South West of the USA, Carlsbad was our home base. That’s because my cousin Roger lives here and he hosted us for 3 weeks. This is also where our big RV trip started, but more about that later. We loved Carlsbad, so I wanted to share the photos I took here. We also often visited San Diego from Carlsbad and we went to Los Angeles from here.

Downtown Carlsbad

Just walking around in Downtown Carlsbad is fun, there are some hip places to eat, drink and you can walk along the boulevard and enjoy the view over the pacific ocean. We started with a good cup of coffee at Sleeping Tiger Coffees  and that was almost the only time that we had ‘real’ coffee. You guys know you make me very happy when you take me to Starbucks, but Wouter likes his coffee stronger and more like the Italian espresso’s. You can reed my Hotspot post about Sleeping Tiger Coffees right here.

Joyce and I took lots of photos in this alley, but how awesome are all these tropical trees and plants?

How amazing would it be to live right on the beach, with all these huge succulents growing around you and good weather almost everyday. It’s one of our dreams to own a vacation home right here!

My cousin Roger and I! <3

There’s a lot of cool street art around here. I loved this one. My brother and I grew up with Mario Bros.

Zoey was enjoying the nice views as well! Or maybe she just saw a snack?

Taking pictures for my brothers Instagram!

Moonlight Beach

We also went to the beach a couple of times. From where Roger lives it’s only a 15 minute ride to Moonlight Beach. A nice little beach with calm waters, perfect for children.

Close to the beach you can find Leucadia Pizzeria & Italian, where you can get delicious pizzas and a big choice in toppings. The sizes go from small to large, a medium was enough for me for lunch and I’m not a big eater! When you walk to Leucadia from the beach you pass a nice little garden with lots of cacti, succulents and painted stones:

La Costa Town Square and area

Roger lives very close to La Costa Town Square, it’s only a 5 minute walk. There’s a Starbucks (yay!), a Vond supermarked, all kinds of places to eat and shop. The neighborhood where he lives is also very nice and we just had to make some pictures around here. There are a lot of nice flowers, palm trees and typical American houses.
